NaturSea-PV Project Update: Successful Basin Test at MARIN Institute

2025/02/06

The NATURSEA-PV Project has reached an exciting milestone! During our recent M25 General Assembly at MARIN HQ, our team saw the first scaled prototype of the offshore floating photovoltaic (PV) platform.

Last November, we had the opportunity to visit the MARIN Institute as part of the European NaturSea-PV project. During our visit, a full-scale prototype underwent a thorough basin test, which is an important milestone in the project.

In this project, the Institute of Materials in Civil Engineering is responsible for developing the transport model that will be used to model and predict chloride penetration into the concrete beam structures. This model will help us to better understand and predict the effects of corrosion on the foundations of offshore structures.

To showcase this moment, we recorded an exclusive video at MARIN’s testing facilities, where the prototype is being evaluated under realistic wave and weather conditions. This marks a significant step forward in developing a more durable and efficient solution for offshore renewable energy.
