Laura Ramallo, PhD student from the Department of School of Architectureof Alcalá (UAH), Spain, carried out a secondment at the Università degli Studi di Genove (UniGe), from 27th of April to 27th of June 2025. Her visit was hosted by Prof. Dr. Antonio Caggiano, a senior researcher and member of the Dipartimento di ingegneria civile, chimica e ambientale (DICCA). During her three-month research stay at the UniGe, she collaborated closely with Prof. Antonio Caggiano, focusing on computational models of heat transfer and thermal energy storage phenomena of bio-based materials using Finite Element Methods (FEM) for architectural applications. This work directly contributed to advancing the scope of the BEST project, particularly in the field of energy-efficient construction. Furthermore, her stay offered a valuable opportunity to interact with other international students and researchers.
