BEST Mobility of Nicolas Castrillón in USFQ

From TU Darmstadt, Germany to USFQ, Equador

2024/07/03

Mr. Nicolas Castrillón, a PhD student at the University of Darmstadt, visited San Francisco University in Quito from April 1st, 2024, to June 1st, 2024. His visit was hosted by Prof. Eva Lantsoght, who is the coordinating professor at USFQ.

During his stay, he had the opportunity to work with different groups at the university to analyze the thermal behavior of new bio-based materials. In collaboration with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, he researched using various software tools to first create a mesh of the material and then conduct a thermo-analysis in a finite element program.

Additionally, it was a great opportunity for him to give two presentations. The first one was about his doctoral thesis, “Molecular Dynamics,” to exchange ideas with the students and professors of the university. The second one, “Leben in Deutschland,” was for students interested in pursuing a PhD in Germany and who are not familiar with the application process or daily life in Germany.
