SPP 2436 First Annual Meeting in Aachen

2025/12/17

On November 24, 2025, one year after its launch, the DFG Priority Programme 2436 brought together its project partners at RWTH Aachen to share progress, strengthen collaboration, and define the next steps toward achieving net-zero concrete.

After one year of intensive collaboration within the DFG Priority Programme 2436 (SPP 2436) Net-Zero Concrete, researchers from participating universities gathered at RWTH Aachen for the first Annual Meeting. The event marked an important milestone in the programme’s journey toward developing innovative solutions for climate-neutral concrete.

Building on the successful kick-off in Darmstadt, the Annual Meeting provided a platform for the 15 research projects to present their current state of progress, share key findings, and discuss scientific challenges. Representatives from 12 leading German universities came together to exchange ideas, strengthen interdisciplinary cooperation, and align their strategies for the next project phase.

Over the course of the meeting, participants engaged in in-depth discussions on experimental results, modelling approaches, material development, and lifecycle assessment strategies. Beyond the scientific presentations, the event fostered networking and collaborative planning, ensuring effective project management and coordinated research efforts across institutions.

The Annual Meeting in Aachen reaffirmed the shared commitment of all partners to advancing material science and engineering toward the goal of achieving net-zero concrete. With strong collaboration and a clear roadmap for the coming year, SPP 2436 continues to pave the way for a more sustainable construction industry.

Stay tuned for further updates as the research progresses into its second year.
