SPP 2436 Annual Meeting Announcement
2026/09/29
On September 29, 2026, the DFG Priority Programme 2436 will bring together its project partners in Darmstadt for the Annual Meeting, providing an opportunity to exchange recent developments, strengthen collaboration, and align future activities. The meeting will be followed by the Net-Zero Future Conference, offering a broader platform for scientific discussion and knowledge exchange on pathways toward achieving net-zero concrete.
Researchers of the DFG Priority Programme 2436: Net Zero Concrete will gather on 29 September 2026 in Darmstadt for the Annual Meeting, bringing together project partners to exchange progress, strengthen collaboration, and align ongoing research activities across the programme. The meeting will provide an opportunity for researchers from all participating institutions to discuss current developments and prepare for the next phase of research towards net-zero concrete.
The programme will include the Group Meetings, focusing on the three core research pillars of the programme: Modelling, Experimental Research, and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). These sessions are intended to facilitate in-depth discussions within and across the individual groups, fostering knowledge exchange and strengthening the interaction between complementary research approaches. The close collaboration between these areas remains essential for connecting material innovation, predictive methods, and environmental assessment.
These contributions will provide a platform for sharing results, identifying synergies between projects, and addressing organisational matters relevant to the continued development of SPP 2436.
Participants are warmly invited to join the opening ceremony of the Net-Zero Future Conference, which will take place following the Annual Meeting. The conference itself offers an excellent opportunity to engage with the broader scientific community, exchange ideas with international experts, and gain insights into the latest developments related to sustainable and climate-neutral construction. All researchers are strongly encouraged to participate in the conference and take advantage of the opportunities for networking and interdisciplinary discussion.

Following the conference the Net-Zero School 2026 “Low Carbon Concrete” offers a four-day programme combining scientific lectures, laboratory activities, group work, and social events. Participants will gain insights into key topics such as carbon capture and utilization, recycled binders, UHPC, energy storage, geopolymers, and net-zero concrete technologies. In addition to hands-on laboratory sessions and group presentations, the programme includes networking opportunities, a brewery tour, social activities, and an optional excursion, providing an interactive environment for knowledge exchange and collaboration among early-career researchers and experts in sustainable concrete technologies.
